A few words about my work

Gestural abstraction, the abstract, imperfection unfetter an image from detail. It is not the ballet dancer we gaze at but the movement itself, this unconverted energy. By using engraving as a medium, what I do, in essence is a process of retrospection, the subconscious or, if you will, subliminal and academic knowledge are intertwined under the veil of the moment, the gesture and intense emotion.

Gestural abstraction, for me, is directly connected to the subconscious, to both individual but also common experiences. The exhibitions I have seen, needless to say, constitute a visual study, however, a pleasant meal with friends, a confabulation, a quarrel, distressing news, a play, a musical or dancing performance, physical interaction and generally the experiences which precede, no matter how insignificant they may seem, influence the work I create or conceive in the studio. Everything is a composition and the essence of these experiences is gestural abstraction, nothing occurs arbitrarily.

Primarily, I work for myself, my self-evolution. Apart from the people who appreciate and care for me, should a stranger enjoy and interact with my work, this gifts me with immense energy and automatically I work for this person, this stranger. Together we enter a world of form, texture and colour, exploring aspects of ourselves, eliciting memories from the subconscious

This series of works of art have not been created only for my fellow artists, they are also receptive concerning approach, since all viewers deserve the right to enjoy a work of art, even though the degree of enjoyment lies in them, themselves, and is dependent on their reciprocal interaction with the object of art.
